Details & Expectations
ATTENDANCE: We plan to start each rehearsal and performance on time. Please arrive a few minutes
early so we can make the most of our rehearsal time. All rehearsals and performances are mandatory.
All known conflicts (vacations, activities, and special occasions) must be communicated on your
Conflict Calendar (filled out at auditions). Missing rehearsals affects your child’s counterpart,
cast-mates, and the overall quality of the show. If your child misses more than two rehearsals, he
or she may be removed and the part will be re-cast. In the event of illness, please text or leave a
message for Laura Lewis (801)-427-3387, or April Maughan (843)-860-5683.
SCHEDULING: We will provide a complete rehearsal schedule once the cast lists are posted. We plan
to stick to this schedule, but appreciate your understanding if additional rehearsals are needed.
We don’t anticipate performers having much down time. Rehearsals have been scheduled so that
everyone is productive nearly the entire time. However, part of being a musical theater performer
is learning the art of “hurry-up and wait.” We will do our best to make the most of our rehearsal
time and the more prepared you are, the better we’ll be able to do that.
SCRIPT: Please read the entire script and highlight your lines. You can print your own copy of the
script from the website, and please take excellent care of it. Your lines need to be memorized by
Friday, January 10. Please learn the music (available on www.valleyviewmusical.org) on your
own. You are responsible for knowing the musical numbers you are performing.
Rehearsal time will be best used for practicing and perfecting.
ATTITUDE: Each person’s attitude affects those around him/her. Please be positive and encouraging
to one another. Your regular attendance, line memorization, note-taking, kindness, and
responsibility will help our production run smoothly and create cast unity. You will be spending
many hours with parent volunteers at the school. Please treat people and property with respect.
Performers who violate this request may be removed and their part will be re-cast.
PARENTS: We are requesting a 10 hour (minimum) donation of your time to help in the production of
the musical. Producing the highest quality production possible requires many hands, and the time of
many willing volunteers. You will be asked to sign up for an area of Volunteer work, when you register your child
for the Musical. You will then be contacted about how you can meet your volunteer hour requirement
in that area of production. There are many ways to help, no matter your skill set. We appreciate whatever
help you can give.
PLEASE REMEMBER: We are all volunteers. We all have varied experiences in theater and we are
learning as we go. The story and people in "The Berlin Candy Bomber" were and are real people. If you get cast
as one of the people, you will have the opportunity to research this person with the help of your
parent or guardian. The unique and wonderful thing about this musical is that it has been created
just for you, and is based on a true story.
